As outlined in the constitution, the President shall
Represent the GEO on all matters of policy and program.
Act as the sole official spokesperson for the GEO.
Chair the Labor/Management Committee.
Serve as first local affiliate delegate to governance bodies of the MFPE, NEA, and AFT.
The President is the de-facto Chair of the Labor Management Committee and the Chair of the Bargaining Unit for the GEO, meaning this person is the ultimate spokesperson for the Union to the University in many conversations.
The President acts as the liaison not only to MSU administration but also to the MFPE (parent union), and the GEO membership.
The President sets the agenda and leads meetings, including regular sessions of the GEO Central Committee as well as less frequent member assemblies
